Six participants attended the September 2 Writing in Nature workshop, facilitated by Nancy Morgan, which focused on the theme of listening and responding to sounds in nature. On a picture perfect fall-like day, each person roamed the area of Morven Park near the Gatehouse, taking notes in journals provided by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy. Each person reported back when the group re-gathered about the process of listening and writing. Objectives for the workshop included: finding pleasure in writing; strengthening ties to nature; experiencing the health benefits of writing and spending time in nature; creating a community of people who enjoy both writing and nature. Scientific evidence supporting the health benefits of being in nature and expressing thoughts and feelings in writing were reviewed.
The next Writing in Nature Workshop will take place on the first Thursday in October, October 7.
