The Loudoun County Bird Atlas confirmed 120 bird species nesting in the county and a total of 263 bird species either nesting or migrating through the county. Since the atlas was completed in 2014, additional species have been added to that list, some as a result of the Birdathon. The Young Birding Program includes counts by young birders.
The data collected during these events and for the Loudoun County Bird Atlas are vital because birds play a key role in our ecosystem and are important indicators of the overall health of our environment. Join us on a count – not only is it important, it’s fun!
