Patrick Lewis and Jane Yocom led a group of young birders on April 6 at the Dulles Greenway Wetlands on a breezy but sunny morning. It was a great walk that yielded a variety of species, including at least four Bald Eagles, a close-up look at a Belted Kingfisher and a quick look at an American Kestrel aggressively interacting with a Red-shouldered Hawk. We also explored the unique plant life at Dulles Wetlands and saw some signs of other animals that live there, including an otter trail and coyote droppings.
During a walk lasting almost three hours, we found a total of 29 species of birds. View the complete list on eBird at: https://ebird.org/checklist/S167414244
