Four participants joined us for the December 1 workshop led by Nancy Morgan entitled Moving Words. Suggesting the body is a repository for thoughts and feelings that can be coaxed to the surface with catalysts like dance/movement and time in nature, we discussed the role of movement in our lives. We imagined moments that could be described as choreographed, like the “dance” around the kitchen in preparation for Thanksgiving with multiple relatives shifting and swaying toward a final gathering around the feast. For an outdoor activity we searched for natural settings that mirrored current thoughts, then wrote about and shared our discoveries with the group. Segments of Annie B. Parson’s book, The Choreography of Everyday Life, were recited to illustrate today’s themes.
The Writing in Nature workshops are held the first Thursday of each month. Sign up for the next workshop via the event calendar.
