On a beautiful May morning, 13 birders including Christine Perdue and myself, found 51 species on the International Migratory Bird Day walk sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy. Breeding behavior included Red-bellied Woodpeckers and Eastern Phoebes on nests, and White-eyed Vireos collecting spider webs for nests.
Scarlet Tanagers, Wood Thrush, and Ovenbirds sang in the woods. Warbler species included Black-throated Blue, Yellow, Prairie, Common Yellowthroats, and many American Redstarts.
