Join Us for a “Swift Night Out” This September!

Get ready for a “Swift Night Out” this September in Lincoln, Va., exact date and time to be determined. As fall begins and Chimney Swifts have finished raising their young, these fascinating aerial acrobats begin to congregate every evening before dusk in communal roosts located in large chimneys. While some groups may consist of a large extended family group, others feature hundreds of swifts swirling around in the sky prior to entering a chimney! We’ll sit on a lawn/parking lot near where the Chimney Swifts roost and watch their aerial acrobatics before they descend into their chimney roost. With sunset around 7:15 pm in mid-September, this event will take place sometime between 6:30 and 8:00 pm. Bring a chair or a blanket to sit on and snacks to munch on.
