Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy staff have been working with Unison, a leading software provider, for about two months to prepare to move the office furniture the company donated to us. Like many offices throughout the country, Unison is downsizing their space since most of their employees now work from home after the pandemic. They graciously offered to donate some of the furniture they no longer needed to us, and we gladly accepted the following items:
- Two desks
- Two locking file cabinets
- One small meeting table with four chairs
- One large conference table with eight chairs
- Five bookcases
- One printer stand
Gigi Mate and Karen Crowe at Unison were wonderful to work with as we visited multiple times to pick out, measure, label and then move the furniture on May 21.
Moving all this furniture would not have been possible without the help of volunteers who not only provided their expertise, time, and muscles but also their trucks, vans, trailers, tools, dollies, and hand trucks. Many thanks to the following folks that helped: Al Erickson, Jenny Erickson, Sam Hakem, Brian Lecrone, Daniel Bour, Brian Magurn, Jack Hawkins, Jim McWalters, Mike Scott and Phil Sczerzenie. They moved all the items in record time with no dents, dings, scratches, chips or breaks to the furniture or themselves.
Being a small nonprofit organization, we feel it is more important to invest membership dollars and donations into our programs rather than on things like new office furniture. Needless to say, our previous office furniture was a mish-mash collection of thrift store and donated items that accumulated over the years as needed. Many of our bookshelves were sagging, desks had drawers that no longer opened (or closed) easily and we were outgrowing our file cabinets.
We are so excited to have all this new-to-us, matching, fully-functioning office furniture. Thank you, Unison. We are grateful for your donation to Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.
