Dutchman’s Breeches (Dicentra cucullaria).

On Wednesday, April 13th, Ami Mason led a wildflower walk at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve. There were 12 people in attendance. It was sunny and 72 degrees, which was perfect weather for hiking. Ami led the group along the Old Log trail on the southeastern portion of the preserve with old-growth trees and plenty of spring ephemeral wildflowers. While the Bloodroot and Harbinger of Spring were waning, we saw Pale Corydalis, Dutchman’s Breeches, Trout Lilies, Bluebells, Spring Beauties, a variety of violets and more. There were many birds to observe, and a White-eyed Vireo was heard by a member of the group.
