About the Role
Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) is a volunteer-powered, membership-based nonprofit working to protect, preserve, and restore wildlife habitat. We’re shaping a Loudoun where people and wildlife thrive together.

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator will help deepen donor relationships and cultivate a sustainable, growing base of support for LWC’s mission. This position will play an important role in connecting people with our work, communicating the tangible impact of their generosity, and helping donors feel informed, valued, and proud of the difference they are making for Loudoun’s natural world.

What You’ll Do
Donor Acquisition and Cultivation
- Research and identify prospective donors, supporters, and funding opportunities aligned with LWC’s mission.
- Build genuine, long-term relationships with supporters through consistent and meaningful engagement.
- Partner with the Executive Director to develop and implement thoughtful, personalized donor stewardship plans that help supporters feel valued and proud of the results their support makes possible.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract new donors and expand LWC’s base of support.
- Identify and cultivate opportunities for legacy and planned giving.
- Empower and support Board members in participating confidently and effectively in donor cultivation and stewardship.
Events and Fundraising Campaigns
- Support the planning and management of successful fundraising events and campaigns.
- Evaluate event and campaign results, identify lessons learned, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Support LWC’s Annual Meeting, including identifying donors and prospects and preparing cultivation materials for Board members.
- Help create a welcoming and engaging experience for donors, prospects, event attendees, and campaign participants.
Donor Administration
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date donor records in LWC’s donor management system (Little Green Light).
- Manage timely and thoughtful donor acknowledgments by email, mail, and occasional phone calls.
- Generate periodic reports on donor activity, campaign performance, fundraising progress, and other key metrics.
- Collaborate with LWC’s Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to ensure the accuracy and consistency of constituent records in Little Green Light.
Executive Support
- Assist the Executive Director in developing fundraising strategies, goals, annual plans, and timelines.
- Prepare materials for donor meetings, Board presentations, fundraising campaigns, and other development activities.
- Help track progress toward fundraising goals and identify opportunities for continued growth.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with staff, Board members, and volunteer program leaders to align fundraising efforts with LWC’s mission and organizational priorities.
- Communicate warmly, clearly, and professionally with donors and prospects by email, phone, video conference, and in person.
- Represent LWC’s mission and impact in ways that build trust, strengthen relationships, and inspire continued support.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey LWC’s mission, impact, and funding priorities in ways that inspire interest and support.
- Confidence learning and using new technology, including donor management systems and other digital tools.
- Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and CRM platforms; experience with Little Green Light is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate needs in a small-team environment.
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling confidential donor and organizational information.
- A warm, collaborative approach to working with colleagues, Board members, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
What Success Looks Like
- Annual fundraising revenue grows steadily and sustainably.
- Donors feel valued, connected to LWC’s mission, and confident in the impact of their support.
- Fundraising campaigns and events are thoughtfully planned, well executed, and thoroughly evaluated for future improvement.
- Donor and prospect records are accurate, complete, current, and useful for relationship-building and decision-making.
- LWC develops a broader, stronger, and more engaged community of supporters
- Fundraising systems, plans, and processes become increasingly organized, effective, and sustainable.
Working Environment and Compensation
- Up to 30 hours per week initially at $30-$33 per hour commensurate with experience (eligible for discretionary performance bonus after one full year of employment based on annual performance review)
- Hybrid role: primarily remote, with required in-person attendance at weekly staff meetings, periodic events in Loudoun County, and occasional in-person visits and meetings with potential or existing donors.

- You prefer working in a large, highly resourced organization with specialized departments and extensive support staff.
- You would rather focus exclusively on either relationship-building or administrative work instead of balancing both.
- You prefer working in an office environment and experience difficulty staying on task when working remotely.
