2026 Work Days at JK Black Oak Wildlife Sanctuary

Volunteer work days at JK Black Oak Wildlife Sanctuary will begin April 4, 2026.  These events take place April through December, usually on the first Saturday of the month (see schedule below).  Since the sanctuary is not open to the public, work days provide a way to get to know the property and enjoy working in nature with other volunteers. We’ll be doing our usual mix of habitat restoration activities including invasive removal and trail maintenance at various locations on the property.  In the fall, we’ll be planting native trees and shrubs to complete the two vernal pool restoration projects we started in 2025.  As usual, midway through each work day, we’ll take a break to have a snack and hydrate.

Registration for the work days opens approximately five weeks in advance, and sign up is through the event calendar.  Please note that volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate, and the work is often strenuous.
