May 9 was the start of the first Birdathon for the Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers team (Kristin and Jonathan Morales). We walked the Sanctuary Trail at Algonkian Regional Park for the first time and visited Claude Moore Park and the Broadlands Wetlands Preservation Area. During our 48-hour Birdathon we identified 39 species including four that we had never seen before: an Eastern Kingbird, Blue Grosbeak, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and an Orchard Oriole. We loved spending time outdoors and had a great time doing the Birdathon!
