A dozen birders visited Bles Park on the morning of June 16 during the heart of bird breeding season. The group was led by Bryan Henson with assistance from John and Kevin Denice. About half of the birders were new and excited to see many of our common local species. We found all three local mimics: Gray Catbird, Brown Thrasher and Northern Mockingbird. We got good looks at Great Crested Flycatchers and Acadian Flycatchers. Other highlights include finding what was likely a Devil’s Crayfish and a tiny American Toad. It was a pleasant walk during which we found 38 species of birds. The complete list can be viewed on eBird at https://ebird.org/checklist/S181833341.
