In partnership with the Loudoun County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, Allison Gallo and Bryan Henson led the last walk in the Loudoun Wildlife 2022 Celebrate Birds series on May 22. The League Chapter manages a rich natural property in western Loudoun that contains a wide variety of habitats. While the group did not see a lot of birds, they did hear a good number. Fortunately, many were able to get a good look at a White-eyed Vireo and an Ovenbird. In addition the group got to see several butterflies, including probably the most prolific butterfly, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, which is our Virginia State Insect. They also saw several dragonflies and damselflies, including Eastern Pondhawk, Blue Dasher, Fragile Forktail and Ebony Jewelwing.
