Some may remember the effort to oppose the Mid-Atlantic Resiliency Link (MARL line), also known as the Western Loudoun Power Line. When that proposal was withdrawn and reconsidered, it was expected that something else would come back to meet the demand— and here it is.
Currently, two primary study areas are being considered. One would follow existing right-of-way, but would require expansion and enter Virginia by cutting through Sweet Run State Park. The other would be constituted of largely greenfield (current forrest, farmland, or other undeveloped greenspaces) development. As a whole, the currently proposed study areas would impact conservation easements, farms, homes, and more. See more information at the resources below. We will be closely monitoring the situation as it develops. You can submit comments in Geovoice by viewing the project map at the link below. Continue to stay tuned for more public involvement opportunities.
