Please join Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy’s annual Butterfly Count on Saturday, Aug. 1 (rain date: Aug. 2). Each year, LWC deploys approximately 10 teams throughout the count circle to survey and identify butterfly species. Teams are made up of volunteers with all levels of experience — from seasoned experts to first-time participants. Harrison Street Pollinator Meadow Volunteer Opportunity (April through November)

The Harrison Street Pollinator Meadow, established in 2018, is an ongoing habitat restoration project located alongside the W&OD Trail in Leesburg. This important site provides critical habitat for pollinators and supports native plant biodiversity in our community. Volunteers play a key role in maintaining the meadow. From April through November, volunteers are invited to help water native plants and remove invasive, non-native species, ensuring native plants have the space and resources to thrive. Salt Watch (year round)

Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy’s Salt Watch Program helps monitor and understand the impact of road salt on local streams. Volunteers are needed to collect monthly and winter data about the salt levels in streams around the county, and we are specifically looking for volunteers in the Leesburg, Sterling, South Riding, Round Hill and Purcellville areas. FrogWatch Monitoring (February through September)

Join our amphibian monitoring efforts by providing data about frogs in Loudoun County. Participation consists of learning the various calls of our local frog/toad species using the instructional material we provide and then monitoring a specific location of your choice for calls.
