The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator keeps that heart beating stronger every year.
In this role, you’ll serve as the central facilitator of Loudoun Wildlife’s volunteer network while helping build a vibrant, inclusive, and well-supported community of volunteers committed to our mission. If you love working with people, thrive on building relationships, and are excited to organize and empower volunteers for a great community-shaping cause, we want to meet you!

As our Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, you’ll lead the recruitment, coordination, and stewardship of volunteers across our programs and events, ensuring that every volunteer feels welcomed, supported, and valued.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Volunteer Engagement & Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, and support volunteers across all programs and events, matching volunteers to roles where they can shine.
- Support our volunteer program coordinators and leaders in the development and management of their volunteer teams.
- Provide clear communication, training when needed, and resources to ensure volunteers succeed in (and enjoy) their roles.
- Manage event logistics related to volunteer staffing and support.
- Track volunteer participation and produce reports on impact and engagement.
Volunteer Stewardship & Recognition
- Help develop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment, management, retention, and recognition.
- Create compelling volunteer opportunities and promote them through our communications channels.
- Highlight volunteers through spotlights, awards, and appreciation events.
- Coordinate thank-you communications and tokens of recognition.
Process Improvement
- Periodically assess and strengthen volunteer systems, training, and communications.
- Collaborate with staff and program leaders to ensure smooth volunteer operations.
- Support Loudoun Wildlife initiatives, outreach, and events as part of a dynamic, mission-driven team.
What You’ll Bring
- A warm, welcoming, and people-centered attitude conducive to building lasting relationships across diverse groups.
- Strong, detail-oriented organization skills and the ability to keep multiple projects moving smoothly while accurately tracking associated data.
- A positive, collaborative spirit that makes co-workers and stakeholders love working with you.
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or program management.
- Comfort working with common applications and software, such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, and donor/volunteer management software (Little Green Light is a plus).
