Sixteen birders came together on a cool, clear morning looking for birds at Algonkian Park on November 17. The day started off with finding two adult Bald Eagles, and we were able to watch one fish on the Potomac. Along the trail, we found many of our winter visitors, including both Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Dark-eyed Juncos, White-throated Sparrows, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers and a Winter Wren. A few gulls flew along the water and we spied a Common Merganser zooming low along the water. A Great Blue Heron was fishing near us as we turned around at Sugarland Run. On our way back, Eastern Bluebirds perched up above the trail.
The group was led by Allison Gallo, Bryan Henson, John Denice and Larry Meade. We ended up finding 38 species as detailed in our full eBird checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S202795694
