Nancy has been a member of Loudoun Wildlife since 2015 and has been actively volunteering for a couple of years. In addition to helping with the Native Plant Sale, she guides the monthly (first Thursday) Writing in Nature workshops.
In honor of Nancy, we would like to take a moment and highlight her favorite time of year — Spring.
Spring is an incredible time of year in Virginia as the flora and fauna begin to awaken from the slumber of winter. The first to herald the coming of Spring are the salamanders and the precious little Spring Peeper frogs. When these species begin to stir we know it will not be long before our beloved native spring ephemeral wildflowers bloom followed by tree buds bursting as leaves emerge.
Nancy shared these thoughts with us:
Spring,
When the dogwood puts on her ivory bracelets
and Bluebells wash the river banks in a sea of sapphire.
