This past Wednesday we held a quick and dirty milkweed plant sale to get the final 400 milkweed plants that we had purchased this spring out into the world (and out of my driveway).
I call it a “quick and dirty” sale because the idea to have the plant sale was hatched on July 1st and the we held it on July 10th – not a lot of time to advertise or promote it but wow did the word spread! Leesburg Today ran a terrific write up on it for us, lots of people shared and liked it on our facebook page, and we had a great response from people that we sent it out to via email.
The sale was fast and furious – even before we could get the plants and other Monarch and milkweed gear set up, we had a line forming. Then off we went. In those two hours we sold all 400 milkweed plants as well as all 36 Paw Paw saplings that we had brought.
I did the math and for that many plants, we sold over 3 plants per minute!
Thank you all who came out for this event! And thank you for your concern and action for Monarchs and our other wildlife! What a terrific community we have!

We are growing out 400 more common milkweed and 200 more swamp milkweed plants right now and we’ll have them available in the fall for planting.
If you need any Monarch gear (rearing house, “Bringing Back the Monarch, Keeping the Magic Alive” tshirt, “how to raise Monarchs” book), check our website or contact us.
