Spring Ligi became a member of the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy in high school and, 20 years later, continues to be inspired by this amazing group of volunteers. She developed a passion for birds while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at James Madison University. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, studying the breeding behavior of Baltimore and Orchard Orioles. With the help of many talented and dedicated Loudoun Wildlife members, Spring created the Birds of Loudoun checklist and brought the 2009-2014 Loudoun County Bird Atlas to fruition with the publication of the Birds of Loudoun in April 2019. She enthusiastically shares her love of birds and nature with her three young daughters. One of her favorite family adventures is participating in Loudoun Wildlife’s Birdathon each May with her team, the “Ligi Nestlings.” In addition to bird watching, Spring also enjoys gardening with native plants and blogging about her adventures as a mom.
