Cordy has been involved in wildlife conservation and animal advocacy since the age of 15, when she began lobbying local New Jersey legislators to ban the trapping of wildlife—an issue she remains passionate about today. After her family moved to Harford County, MD, where her parents became avid birders and native plant enthusiasts, Cordy attended university in Washington, DC while deepening her commitment to conservation and animal welfare.
Following moves to Herndon and later Great Falls, she founded one of Northern Virginia’s largest animal rescue organizations, HART, in 1994, while also volunteering with animal protection organizations nationwide. Witnessing the effects of rapid growth on Northern Virginia’s wildlife, bird, and pollinator habitats strengthened her dedication to conservation and community education. Cordy is actively transforming her own property into a bird- and pollinator-friendly sanctuary and regularly shares educational resources through social media.
With more than four decades leading marketing and communications for mission-driven nonprofits—including directing several multimillion-dollar national campaigns—she is excited to bring this expertise to LWC and help expand the organization’s reach and impact.
