What is an Owl?
September 17, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Owls are immediately recognized by everyone – even the youngest child. They have a special place in literature, mythology and our hearts. But what is it that sets owls apart from other raptors? You will meet four Wildlife Ambassador owls up close as they help us share what it means to be an owl. Liz Dennison of Secret Garden Birds and Bees will explain their “superpowers” of night vision, remarkable hearing, stealth flight, and invisibility. She’ll clear up some common misconceptions and divulge a few surprising owl secrets. Liz will also give you some hints about where to find owls right in your neighborhood and suggest ways we can all help owls thrive in our increasingly human world. And maybe you’ll get to get a selfie with your favorite owl. This family-friendly program is cosponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and House 6 Brewery. No registration necessary.
