The Holometabola: Insects with Four Life Stages

July 27, 2023 @ 6:00 pm
Eight-spotted Forester moth

Join Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and Vanish Brewery for a presentation by world-renowned entomologist Dr. Adamski on Holometabola, insects that have four distinct life stages. This will be an interactive presentation covering a variety of species including lacewings, scorpionflies, caddisflies, beetles, flies, ants, butterflies and moths, and bees and wasps. We will discuss how this type of growth pattern differs from the gradual growth pattern of more primitive insects, and the advantages of these growth differences. If possible, after the presentation we will visit a lighted sheet to see what nocturnal insects from this region come to visit.  No registration necessary.
