Monica Skinner recently retired from the U.S. Department of State after a distinguished 23-year career representing the United States at embassies and consulates around the world. Following her retirement, she saw an opportunity to continue serving the community she has called home since moving to Loudoun County in the late 1990s.
As a parent, Monica experienced firsthand the exceptional educational opportunities Loudoun County provided her children, all of whom attended local elementary and middle schools and are now successful young adults. She is passionate about helping ensure that future generations continue to benefit from the county’s strong sense of community, environmental stewardship, and quality of life as Loudoun continues to grow.
Born in Lima, Peru, Monica developed an early appreciation for the importance of protecting biodiversity, from the Amazon rainforest to the world’s oceans. This lifelong commitment to conservation, combined with her dedication to public service, inspires her work with the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.
Monica is excited to collaborate with members, volunteers, staff, and community partners in advancing Loudoun Wildlife’s mission to protect, preserve, and restore wildlife habitat while fostering environmental education and stewardship throughout Loudoun County.
