Increasing Awareness of the Spotted Lanternfly (Virtual)
Native to China, the Spotted Lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014. Since then, it has spread to 10 states, including Virginia, and poses a serious threat to agriculture and logging industries as well as home gardens. Join Beth Flores-Sastre, horticulturist from the Virginia Cooperative Extension Loudoun Office to learn how we can slow the spread of this invasive pest. The Center, a future state park, has 894 acres of diverse habitat consisting of vernal pools, meadows, ponds, streams, and a rich oak-hickory forest in northwestern Loudoun. JK Black Oak Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful 87-acre wildlife preserve located in Lucketts.
