Ashley initially became involved with Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy by attend birding trips and lectures. As a biology teacher interested in place based learning and getting students outside, she utilized Loudoun Wildlife’s programming and expertise to enhance her classes. With the guidance from the group, Ashley was able to direct students at Loudoun School for the Gifted to develop a certified Monarch Waystation. She also incorporates dendrology, migratory waterfowl, and stream monitoring studies into her curriculum. Ashley is an active member of the Stream Monitoring Committee. She is a certified stream monitor and stream monitor trainer.
