She will also explore the benefits that beavers\, and the wetlands they create\, provide for the health of our watersheds\, landscapes\, and communities. Finally\, she will discuss practical\, effective\, and nonlethal methods for managing beaver-caused problems like tree damage and flooding. DESCRIPTION:Join Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy on the monthly bird walk at the Sweet Run State Park\, a beautiful 900-acre preserve in northwestern Loudoun County. The property includes diverse wildlife habitats\, including meadows\, streams and heavily forested slopes\, which makes it a great place to see birds and other wildlife. Meet at the Interpretive Center; bring binoculars if you have them. The Park is located just north of Neersville (see map below). SUMMARY:Work Day at JK Black Oak
DESCRIPTION:JK Black Oak Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful 89-acre wildlife preserve located in Lucketts that is owned by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.  Join us for the first work day of 2025 when we will start on one of two vernal pool restoration projects. Additional information and directions to the site will be provided a couple of days before the event. Due to the environmentally sensitive habitat and rare species\, JK Black Oak is not open for general public access. 20 volunteers needed – volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate.  Registration required. \nPlease note: Work days require physical activity\, which may be strenuous\, such as digging and sawing in weedy\, overgrown areas. Please be aware that poison ivy and ticks may present. Long sleeves and pants\, gardening gloves and insect repellant are recommended. SUMMARY:Spring Native Plant Sale at Morven Park
DESCRIPTION:Native plants add beauty and interest to your garden year round and provide important habitat for wildlife.  Our Native Plant Sale is the place to buy spring-blooming flowers\, vines\, trees\, shrubs and ferns from five local native plant nurseries: Hill House Farm & Nursery\, Nature By Design\, Seven Bends Nursery\, Watermark Woods and Yellow House Natives.  The Sale takes place at the visitor parking lot (access via main entrance on Old Waterford Road) and will be staffed by volunteers knowledgeable about native plants who can advise you on selecting natives for your garden and answer your questions. We’ll also have TLC\, a fertilizer and deer deterrent\, to give away. \nThe Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy information booth  has information about some of our programs and how you can volunteer for them. Our Wild Shop will be there with merchandise for sale.  Want to learn more about some of our community partners?
