SUMMARY:Cocoa and Conservation Second Saturdays Winter Hiking Series: Tracks in the Thaw
DESCRIPTION:Join Kelly Roach\, outdoor educator and conservation advocate\, for this monthly opportunity presented by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy to explore the hidden ecological wonders of the season right here in Loudoun at Red Rock Regional Overlook Regional Park. This month\, we’ll focus on reading Piedmont animal tracks. The muddy\, low-lying trail segments close to the Potomac River bank act as a natural canvas sheet for tracks; December thaws keep the mud soft enough to freeze detailed prints of raccoon\, deer\, and river otter overnight. We provide the warm cocoa\, you bring your favorite reusable mug! Each themed walk is a stand-alone event; come to one or join us for the whole series to watch the seasonal shift firsthand. Dress for the elements and wear sturdy footwear. Family Friendly. Registration required 48 hours in advance. \nQuestions: Contact info@loudounwildife.org. \nRegistration
