“Meet in the Meadow” with Loudoun Wildlife
September 30, 2017 @ 7:00 am - 6:30 pm$85
Join us for a tour of Longwood Gardens, one of the premier gardens in the country. The gardens in Kennet Square, Pennsylvania, consist of over 1,000 acres of varied landscapes ranging from formal to naturalistic in design. Our trip will focus on the 86-acre meadow that opened in 2014. We will be attending Longwood’s “Meet us in the Meadow Day” to celebrate this incredible habitat through guided tours informing us about the watershed, plants and animals it supports.
Transportation will be by bus. Meet in the shopping center behind Wells Fargo Bank at 30 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg. The bus will depart at 7:00 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m.

10:45 AM – Regroup at Pierce Dupont House
11:00 AM – Tour meadow with Longwood Garden Experts
Noon – Lunch on your own at one of four restaurants on-site

We will have two special guests joining us on the bus trip to Longwood to discuss meadows, restoration and native plants. They are Susan Abraham of Lush Life Landscape Design and Julie Borneman of Watermark Woods Native Nursery. Susan is passionate about meadows and has been working with celebrated landscaper Darrel Morrison restoring meadow habitats. Julie, a native plant specialist, received a VCAP grant to install a meadow on her property this year for visitors (wildlife included) to enjoy.
