Celebrate Birds! Algonkian Regional Park Nature Sanctuary
May 13, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 am
Free
Join Virginia Master Naturalists Allison Gallo and Bryan Henson on a Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy nature walk to the less-frequented nature preserve part of Algonkian Regional Park. Separated from the main portion of the park by Sugarland Run, the Sanctuary Trail follows the creek, runs along the Potomac River, and winds by several ponds. More than 140 species of birds have been found here, including more than a dozen species of warblers. We’ll look for migrants and hopefully see a few of our area’s returning summer species. This is one of a series of special walks to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day and the spectacle of Spring migration. Bring binoculars and wear shoes that can handle moisture and mud, if it has recently rained. Registration required. Attendance is limited as we will carpool from a meeting location to the trailhead.
