Bluebird Nestbox Monitoring Program Kickoff (Virtual)
February 7 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Lisa McKew of Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy’s Bluebird Monitoring Program will provide an orientation on nestbox monitoring and the protocol used for collecting and reporting data. She will give an overview of the program, discuss the current trails being monitored around Loudoun County, and take us through a slide show about Bluebirds, their nesting habits, habitat needs, and preferred foods. The discussion includes tips about gardening for Bluebirds as well as using natural cavities and nest boxes. A typical nest box system with predator guards will be set up for demonstration. Participants interested in joining a monitoring team for the 2021 season can sign up during the meeting. Those interested in monitoring a home nestbox or trail and providing data to Loudoun Wildlife can register their trails/boxes during the meeting as well. Registration required.
This live-streamed event will be recorded and posted on the website.
