Site Description: Sweet Run is a tributary to Piney Run, which in turn is a tributary of the Potomac. This site is located near Arnold Trail at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship in Neersville.
Certified Lead Monitor: John Ellis started conducting benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring at this site in the spring of 2021. This site was previously monitored from 2008 to 2010.
Ecological condition rating scores resulting from benthic macroinvertebrate surveys at the Sweet Run site starting in Spring 2021. This site has consistently received acceptable ratings, with the exception of Fall 2023, when it received an unacceptable rating during a drought. These surveys cannot detect bacterial pollution.
