|Great woodland trails for a quiet nature walk, wonderful birding and some easy hiking that can take you right down to the Potomac River. Early April is an amazing time at Balls Bluff with its rich diversity of spring wildflowers.
The proximity to the Potomac makes this area a nice draw for birds and in places along the bluff, you are near the top of the canopy making for some nice views of wildlife activity higher up.
The shade of trees is especially welcome on a hot summers day and you can also learn about various aspects of the civil war as this is a historic location.
Seven trails cross and loop through the park. They range in length from 1/2 mile to 2 miles. The trails are marked with color blazes.
